All Eras of Bajor Exploration from ENT to TNG are being done as Exploration Maps (they will have some battles) - Ryugi is doing voiceovers for TOS and TMP - TNG maybe - barely started that one. Myself or Sunshine will voice Ent era. Here's a vid clip from the TMP version - The mission needs some work around the edges and the finer details inserted, but check out the way things flow here - The way I record audio needs fixing as well, lol... This vid edited to give highlights. Note Ryugi's voice mixed with the stock Legacy voices. Gets the point across - 1 Klingon destroyed, another 'appears' in its place. Note the civilian cargo ship going by, oblivious to everything. There are several on the map as background activity. Note the flyby in the Bajoran Sun as well.. | UUM Progress... |

At our team meetings and in our private forums we talk a lot of scripting ideas, and wish we had time to do everything. A while back we had asked for voice talent for use in the mod, but sort of got away from that in favor of ship building and tools and such. I am thinking of getting back into the voiceover direction. That requires mega time and devotion on the team's part, and I don't want to speak for any team member. I've stated before that every mission in The Ultimate Universe will end properly, and some will go further than that. We already have a script to do proper endings. Also - Stage 2 will get a complete physics re-work for more realism, see the removal of the plethora of specialized Federation ships (they go to another race slot), and lots more surprises.... |
| Star Trek Online news |
|
The Associated Press, one of the largest news organizations in the world and an outlet for freelancing reporters to publish their stories, have published an article about Star Trek Online with Jack Emmert from Cryptic Studios. After years in development limbo, the "Trek"- themed massively multiplayer online game will engage, according to game developer Cryptic Studios Inc. Jack Emmert, Cryptic Chief Creative Officer, said players will begin "Star Trek Online" as the captain of a small Starfleet or Klingon Empire ship. They can customize their characters from pre-existing "Trek" species — from Klingons to Gorn — and can create entirely new alien races. As they progress through the game, players can increase in rank and gain larger vessels and more crew. "You'll venture through space exploring new civilizations and life-forms," said Emmert. "You'll also beam down to planets and have adventures inside your ship. It's a galactic-wide game. There's going to be tons of space to investigate. We have a great system for exploration, which will allow for almost infinite possibilities." Cryptic recently announced it had secured the rights to develop and publish "Star Trek Online" from CBS Consumer Products after now-defunct Perpetual Entertainment set the besieged project to kill. "We had a friendly relationship with them," Emmert said. "As it became apparent they weren't going to continue to function, they decided to sell off the license. We swooped in and grabbed it. We took no assets. There was nothing to be had, to be honest. We're building everything from the ground up." Players will also be able to battle against other vessels in laser-blasting, missile-firing deep space scuffles reminiscent of "The Wrath of Khan" and the Dominion War in "Deep Space Nine." Because the game will be set a few generations following the last "Trek" film, players shouldn't expect to run into James T. Kirk or Jean-Luc Picard. "There might be a ship called Enterprise flying around, but it's probably not the same ship anymore," said Emmert. "Most of the characters will have either retired or passed on, but you'll definitely be going to all the places you know and love from 'Star Trek.' Expect to see oldies like Vulcan and Bajor but also fan favorites like Andoria and Qo'noS." Emmert plans to unveil footage and more details about "Star Trek Online" — which has no release date set — with Leonard Nimoy at a "Star Trek" convention Today (Sunday 8/10) in Las Vegas at the Gene Roddenberry Theater inside the Las Vegas Hilton. The "Star Trek Online" panel will also be broadcast live HERE . "You're going to see the actual game working and functioning," said Emmert. "This isn't renders. This isn't concept art. Everything that people will see on Sunday is going to be taken right from 'Star Trek Online' as it stands today, so hardened people should know that a release date might be closer than they think." |

| Ultimate Universe just got better - Vs. Battle Demo Released!! ( for Stage 1 ) |
|
Ok boys and girls.. Muldrf/Markeno says.... Have you been playing Ultimate Universe 1.0 and wanted to pick what enemies you were going to play against? Have you ever wanted to pick which allies would be helping insure their defeat? This is your chance to play a small scale battle of your choice with the Ultimate Universe 1.0 Release Mod. Your Team of 1 to 4, up to 8 Allied ships and 1 to 8 Enemy ships. You also get to choose to place a Starbase or Shipyard for yourself and your enemy. This Vs Battle is similar to the stock Skirmish mode except you pick all the ships in the match. There have been some other changes to the way Allied ships work as well. If your main fleet dies you don’t instantly loose the mission as long as you have at least 1 allied ship still operational. You get to setup either simple One on One fights if you like. Used in combination with the UUTools Singleplayer Race Selection function you can choose to fly ships from any of the UU 1.0 Races. The only limitations are Borg ships don’t mix well with other races, guess they are just too unfriendly… You can place any mixture you like on the Enemy Team, but be careful if you place Borg ships on the Allied fleet, it’s best if you do so to put them as low down on the Allied ship list as possible. Unless of course you set your Singeplayer Race to Borg then you can use any Borg ship in the Allies without fear, but then be careful about throwing in “other race ships”, and if you do put them to the bottom of the list. ---- Ultimate Universe Tools 3287b - Vs. Battle Demo for Stage 1 Vs Battle Instructions & Information: -- To play a Vs Battle map: 1. You first select your Enemy and Allied Ships and Save them. 1a. You can select from 1-8 Enemy ships. As well as a single Station. 1b. You can select 0-8 Allied Ships to support your ingame fleet of up to 4 additional ships. As well as a single Station. 1c. Then you must save you selections by pressing the "SET" button that's with the Vs Battle section. If you don't hit the Set button the settings don't change. 2. You then have the option of playing as the Default "Federation" for your 4 ingame selected ships or any of UU's other races. 2a. To play as a different Race, change the "Singleplayer Race" selection 2b. Then press the "SET" button beside it. If you don't hit the Set button the settings don't change. 3. Then Start Legacy by the Engage button in the lower right corner of the UUTools. 4. Next you click on the Vs Battle button on the Legacy Main Menu. 5. Then pick the Era you want your fleet to be from. 6. After that you pick the Map from the list of maps that are available for that era, some maps are only in certain Eras while others have slight changes between eras. 7. Then you pick your fleet of up to 4 ships by way of the Fleet Selection screen. 8. Finally you Launch the mission. -- Features: Vs Battle allows you to setup a battle with 1 to 8 Enemy ships, 0 to 8 Allied ships, 0 or 1 Enemy Station, 0 or 1 Allied Station of your choosing. As well as 1-4 ships in your fleet. So you can do as simple as a 1on1 fight or as complex as a 12 on 8 battle. You can mix any combination of Races and Eras for the Enemy or Allied Fleets (Borg can cause some issues with the Allies though). Also there could be other stations or even ships placed on the maps on either side of the fight but none of the maps released with the Vs Battle Demo show this type of use. The Allied ships will help your 1-4 ingame ships fight the chosen enemy ships. This script also has an early and a slightly incomplete feature that allows proper use of Tractor beams on Friendlies. As well it should help prevent the Borg "holding beam" from taking engines offline for the AI for the rest of the match. This release is an incomplete showing of the full features that the final Vs Battle mode will have. There will be more features and more advanced maps in the final release. -- Limitations: The Borg ships can be a problem under certain conditions. If your Singleplayer Race is set to any race except Borg and you place Borg ships on your Allied Fleet you could have a crash if you loose your entire "ingame fleet" during the mission. The early tractor beam fix functions can get overwhelming. The final coding for that will be much more robust. Chris Jones says: MULDRF ROCKS! |
